I'm Here Rain or Shine

I have a fun announcement to share, if you haven't been over to Virginia's View Challenge, but she invited me to guest this month, and I couldn't refuse. I created two cards for the challenge, so be sure to stop over there to see them. I thought I would share another card here, using the same theme, embellishments.

I am a pretty clean and simple card maker, and I will be honest and say that when I found out the challenge was embellishments, I got a little nervous! I mean, I use them, but would the minimalistic way I used them be good enough? I didn't really need to fear. Using embellishments is just that, to enhance. Let's take a look at this example.

I started with a piece of watercolor cardstock, and did a wash of Shaded Lilac Distress Ink. I sat it aside to dry, and created a panel with a window to go over the watercolor wash. I colored and cut out some of the cute images from Mama Elephant's Chance of Rain stamp set, and positioned those on the panel.

After I stamped my sentiment, I added my beloved PPP Sparkling Clear sequins in three different sizes, and left it at that. Sometimes less is more, right?

I hope you give the challenge a go this month! I can't wait to see what you make! Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Love your card! The design is wonderful & what a beautiful background! PS--I was inspired by one of your cards in a magazine if you'd like to see it here:

  2. Beautiful - love the blue panel and the the way you have used the sequins

  3. Clever idea having the background in the cut out with the main character in front! Must try it. The Chance of Rain set is so darn cute!
