Stamp Out Chaos: Basics, Ink and Paper

Hi, and happy Wednesday!

It's time for another Stamp Out Chaos post!  Yeah!  Katie and I have been so excited to bring you the latest happenings from our craft space/room.  This week we challenged ourselves to take on the basics, like ink and paper.

Having said that, I am still plugging away over here, trying to organize just that.  So far, I have managed to organize my inks a little bit more than what you see in this picture.  What a fright!

Before I began the process though, I decided to change up how I organize their stamped off colors.  Jennifer McGuire uses these slotted coin protector sheets and so, by trimming my cardstocks down to 2x2 inch squares, I was able to achieve a really great way to see what I need in binder format!

After perusing a couple of sites online that sold slotted ink shelving, my sweet husband decided to take on building one for me.  He was going to go with the foam board idea, however, I have so many inks, he thought it might end up being too heavy, and went with wood.

Well, it proved to be a bit more intensive than he thought, and so, it is still a work in progress.  Not to be slowed, I pushed on with doing a bit more organizing of the ink pads themselves.  Knowing that I wanted to have them in a slot to pull out, I knew they needed to be labeled and color coded...

So, I grabbed my label maker and set to work putting the name and a tiny inked circle on each pad.  It really didn't take that long, especially sitting at the dining room table while everyone was around.

Here is what it looks like all done.  I still have some other ink pads to do, as well as Distress Inks, but I would call this progress, and pretty too!

I also shared how I stored my cardstock, and of course, that really hasn't changed...

I did take out a few things on this side that didn't belong, and now it is only specialty paper, as well as patterned paper, and hardly used cardstock.

I thought I would whip up a fun card using those inks!  I played around with some Distress, as well as basic black to create an artsy, eclectic card.

Thank you so much for hanging in for this loooong post!  I hope you've gained an idea or two, and Katie and I look forward to sharing our next Stamp Out Chaos installment with you in two weeks!  See you soon!

  1. I'll be doing the coin protector swatches, too. I now have the supplies and am waiting for the time to start cataloging and then organizing my inks. Notice ... the words "ink" and "purging" do not appear in the same sentence.

  2. Great progress! I have been considering making some ink swatches too. Seems I'm always stamping out a bunch of different colors to see which ones I want to use. So, this would be a time saver for sure. And I'm hoping my husband will have time to build me an ink storage unit this summer. Fingers crossed. Love this feature!!!! And your card for today is fabulous too!! Love the vellum over the black and white patterned paper, the enamel dots, and splatters-----fun details!
