PLEASE GO HERE TO VOTE!
It's here! It's here! Today is the day when voting begins for this years Gallery Idol competition!! It is officially in the hands of the people! This will certainly be one long week of waiting and I will be wishing it away to see if I am one of the fifteen who continue on in the competition, but in the meantime I plan on keeping myself busy with ink and paper! Oh, and throw in a little housework too of course, hehe.
As I am sure you know, the category assigned to the twenty of us was to use DIY embellishments. I love the thought of making my own embellies and how much money it saves me. I don't feel like I use them enough though. Now, I love to get crafty magazines out at my local library (saving money!) and before this whole Gallery Idol went down I had picked up an issue of CardMaker magazine. In it, Kimber McGrey had a fun article about making ice cream cones and popsicles with standard punches you usually have on hand. So one oval die, a circle punch and ruler and exacto knife later, I had myself a few paper crafted sweet treats! Let's see what I put together with them, shall we?
Starting with Hero Arts Large Plaid Pattern, I stamped the background in Memento's Angel Pink, trimmed it down and tied around brown baker's twine.
After assembling my treats, I added some mica flakes to the top of the cone as well as a layered button threaded with white embroidery floss.
Lastly, cutting apart a sentiment from Papertrey Ink's Cupcake Collection set, I nestled my sentiment over my embellie, added some bling and then adhered the whole panel to my card base with foam.
I really hope you enjoyed my little project! If you feel so inclined, please go vote for your favorite card at this direct link and for more info about Gallery Idol visit here. Thank you so much for your support and as always thank you for your super sweet comments about my projects! You're the best!!
