September MFT Sketch Challenge Guest Designer

Hey there!

This month has me visiting with some of my favorite companies, and MFT is certainly one of them! I am sooo honored to be guesting with the ladies over at the Card Challenges blog, bringing you the latest sketches, using their fabulous stamps and dies! This week's sketch is super fun, but then they all are, aren't they?!

I took a few liberties with this one, and opted for super clean and simple! Using the Blueprint 25 set, I die cut a panel using the large dotted rectangle for my panel. I then took two shades of Distress Inks, and blending them in a masked area on the panel. I added a few flicks of inky water, and let it dry.

In the meantime, I brought out the Birds of Paradise, and Polynesian Paradise sets, and created a colorful motif that I arranged to mirror the sketch. I colored both the flowers, and the bird, using Copic Makers.

I added my sentiment, and also a fun googly eye, and adhered the panel to a white card base.

So, care to join us this week? I can't wait for you to play along! Thanks for visiting today. Have a great one!

AEIHeartU Challenge 28

Hello, and welcome!

I am back to share the latest Avery Elle challenge with you! This month is to create a card using a non-white card base! I am hopelessly addicted to white, so this was good for me to get out of the usual.

I decided to do a bit of watercoloring with the Peonies stamp set, and those big bold blooms. I masked off the vase, along with the flowers and leaves onto a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor paper, and began adding color with Ranger Distress Inks. Once the coloring was finished, I allowed the image to dry, and stamped the sentiment, before trimming it out.

I took another piece of watercolor paper, and created a yellow wash from dark to light, allowing it to dry before adhering it to a teal card base. To finish it off, I added some clear sequins!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hello!

It's time again for another Runway Inspired Challenge! I looove this one! Wait, I seem to say that for all of them, don't I? What can I say? There is so much inspiration in these outfits!

I knew black and white was going to happen, but I also wanted to use the lime, and aqua, in her shirt!

I was completely smitten with this card from Kay Miller, and had to base my card off of it. Seriously, she is a genius, her cards always stellar. I used the Avery Elle Wonky Stitches die set to create a faux stitched line in both the aqua, and white cardstocks. I added a bit of patterned paper from an old paper pad, and mounted it onto a white card base with foam.

I used MFT's Blissful Blooms stamp set and dies to create my cluster, and my sentiment was added using Onyx Black and Mama Elephant's Cross My Heart set.

I finished it off with a few black pearls, and accented my bouquet with some white gel pen. Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope to see you play along with us this time! Oh, and go visit my teammates, because I know they will have loads of inspiration for you!

Something New & Exciting

Hello my friends!

As we stampers know, there are so many stamp companies out there to chose from. Taylored Expressions is one of those companies that has been around for a long time, and they just so happened to start a fun new challenge blog to inspire their customers! I am honored to be on their design team, bringing a bit of inspiration! Yeah! You can find the announcement, here!

The first challenge will be September 3rd, and is a super fun one! Because I felt the need to create something using TE stamps, I give to you, a card.

I started with a white card base, and blended in a bit of Distress Ink in Picked Raspberries, and Squeezed Lemonade. Using the Mixed Blooms stamp set, I watercolored the image with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens, and trimmed it out.

I took two strips of black cardstock, added one of the sentiments to the thickest strip, and adhered them to the card base. I then popped up my image, and added a few Sparkling Clear Sequins.

So, that is my big news for today! I hope to see some of you play along with us next week! It is going to be sooo fun! Thanks for stopping by!

Color Throwdown #357

Hello!

I am back with my last guest post for the Color Throwdown Challenge. I have had such a blast designing with these fabulous inspirational colors/pictures, so thank you, Tammy and Barbara for having me! I hope you have a chance to play too.

This week is a vibrant, fabulously inspiring graphic, and I had a blast with it!

I started by stamping the adorable image from Mama Elephant's Chance of Rain stamp set, and masking it off. Next I blended in a bit of Distress Ink, and flicked in a bit of the color with some water. I let it dry, and removed the mask, coloring in the image with Copic Markers.

I finished it off with a sentiment, and added Glossy Accents to the umbrella!

I hope you liked it, and decide to play along! Have a great day!

MFT Sketch Challenge: 242

Well, hello!

I had to share the card I created for the latest sketch for MFT's challenge. I recently bought the Polynesian Paradise set, because let's face it, anything Torico makes, I must have! So, I inked up the hula girl, as well as the fun hibiscus flowers. Check it out...

To begin, I took a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Cardstock, and die cut a large circle from the center. I then applied a liberal amount of water, and came in with Mermaid Lagoon, and Cracked Pistachio Distress inks, blending and mixing them. I let that dry, and moved on to the rest of the card.

I colored the girl with a variety of Copic Markers, and trimmed her out. I added a bit of black marker around the edge to make her stand out. I then stamped and colored five flowers, and cut them out, again, outlining them as well so they popped. I then layered all of my elements, stamped my sentiment and adhered it all down. I added a few lovely Sparkling Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Post. Um, they now have a 10mm size! Love!

Here is a look at the sketch:

I know, I moved a few things around, lol! I usually do, but then inspiration is like that! I hope you play along, and thanks so much for stopping by to see me today.

Color Throwdown #356

Hi all!

Thanks for stopping by today! I have another fun Color Throwdown challenge to share with you that uses these fun colors.

I brought out a fun stamp set from Mama Elephant called Potted Pretties, let's take a peek shall we?

I started with a white panel, and die cut a circle from it. I then traced it onto a white card base, and stamped my cactus images, using a bit of masking. I then colored them in with Copic markers, and adhered the panel with foam.

I stamped my sentiment in Versamark ink, onto black cardstock, and trimmed it down to adhere onto the card. Lastly, I added a few enamel hearts, and glossed up the pots!

I hope you play along this week! Thanks so much for stopping by!

RIC #90

Hey there!

I am so glad you stopped by! I am back today to share the latest Runway Inspired Challenge with you! How fab is this dress?! I loove the yellow, and florals...

Get your shades on, cause this one is bright!

I shared a little peak at when I was coloring these leave, over on instagram the other day. These are from one of the latest MFT releases, called Blissful Blooms, and I just love it! I die cut quite a few of them, colored them with Copic markers, and clustered them atop an inked up panel.

Using an ink blending tool, I added mustard seed distress ink, and splattered a little over top it. I stamped the sentiment from Polynesian Paradise, and adhered the panel to a black card base.

I hope you can play along with us, we would love to see how you were inspired. As always, thank you for stopping by!

Happy Birthday To You

Hello, hello!

I am stopping by with the latest Color Throwdown Challenge! So, do you create with blues? I have to admit that I don't much. Need a little motivation? Here is is:

I masked off the perimeters of my card base, and blended in some Hickory Smoke Distress Ink, fading it upwards. I then stamped two balloons from Winnie and Walter's The Party stamp set, and colored them with the Zig Clean Color Brush Markers. I heat embossed the sentiment onto the card front, using Onyx Black ink, and clear embossing powder. After I cut the balloons out, I stamped the strings, and popped them up with foam tape.

Thanks for joining me today! I hope you decide to play along! Have a great day!

Color Throwdown #354

Hello!

I am so glad you stopped by! This month, I have the fabulous privilege of guest designing with the Color Throwdown Challenge! They always have the best color inspiration.

I love the rustic feel of the photo, and the serene color scheme...

I brought out some Kraft cardstock, and white heat embossed a sentiment from MFT's Birthday Wishes and Balloons stamp set. I then die cut a large rectangle out of a white panel, and stamped the woodgrain pattern from Altenew's Wood Pallet background stamp onto it. I adhered it to the Kraft card base using foam adhesive.

I then die cut the flowers from MFT's Modern Blooms, and stamped those with the coordinating stamp set, in the challenge colors, using inks from Hero Arts, and Wplus9

Thanks for stopping in to see me today. I hope you play along this week! I can't wait to see what you create!

Runway Inspired Challenge #89

Hello!

I am back today, to share the latest Runway Inspired Challenge! This one is fab, because there are a couple of ways you could be inspired. The beach, the stripes, and the colors are just a few!

Our fabulous sponsor is the fun Etsy Shop, FishScraps! Carrie provided the team with some of her fabulous digital products and I have used them here, inspired by the fun photo above.

I started with strips of cardstock on my cardbase, and inlaid a sentiment from the Glow and Shine Motivational collection.

I then took a couple of the beautiful feathers from the Peach Peacock Feathers collection, printed on white cardstock, and trimmed them out. I adhered them with foam tape over and around the sentiment.

To finish it off, I adhered a few sequins. I hope you were inspired, and decide to play along with us!

Also, please stop by to see what my teammates have come up with using FishScrap products.

AEIHeartU Challenge #27

Scroll down or click HERE for my Virginia's View Challenge card!

Hello, again!

I am back to share the latest Avery Elle Challenge with you! This month is focused on Embossing. I love all things embossed. From heat embossing with powders, to dry, you can't go wrong with the varying looks you can achieve with it!

For my card, I decided to dry emboss using the fabulous Wonky Stitches die set. To achieve this, I opened my Big Shot platform to Tab 1, then laid down my clear cutting pad, next a rubber mat, my card base with dies affixed, and then the top plate. Run it through, and you get a subtle texture. I colored my couple, from Geek Love, with Copic Markers, and trimmed them out, adhering them to the card with foam.

I added a few hearts from the Home Sweet Home stamp set, using red ink, as well as my sentiment stamped in Onyx Black Versafine. I also added a bit of Glossy Accents to their glasses!

I hope you decide to play along with us this month. Jaime is always super generous with her prize, and you never know, you could be the winner! Thanks so much for stopping by!

I'm Here Rain or Shine

Hello!

I have a fun announcement to share, if you haven't been over to Virginia's View Challenge, but she invited me to guest this month, and I couldn't refuse. I created two cards for the challenge, so be sure to stop over there to see them. I thought I would share another card here, using the same theme, embellishments.

I am a pretty clean and simple card maker, and I will be honest and say that when I found out the challenge was embellishments, I got a little nervous! I mean, I use them, but would the minimalistic way I used them be good enough? I didn't really need to fear. Using embellishments is just that, to enhance. Let's take a look at this example.

I started with a piece of watercolor cardstock, and did a wash of Shaded Lilac Distress Ink. I sat it aside to dry, and created a panel with a window to go over the watercolor wash. I colored and cut out some of the cute images from Mama Elephant's Chance of Rain stamp set, and positioned those on the panel.

After I stamped my sentiment, I added my beloved PPP Sparkling Clear sequins in three different sizes, and left it at that. Sometimes less is more, right?

I hope you give the challenge a go this month! I can't wait to see what you make! Thanks for stopping by!
