Celebrating You

Hi there my friend!  Thanks for stopping by today!  I don't know where this week went but I am super excited for this weekend because we are going camping tomorrow!  I need a vacation so badly and hopefully this will give my brain a much needed break.  I will have a scheduled post for Saturday, but that is it.
For today's card I am playing along with CASE Study for the first time ever.  The Craft's Meow is sponsoring and I thought I would play along.  Here is what I came up with using this months muse, Jill Foster's card, as inspiration

Starting with an aqua panel, I heat embossed the solid fusia flower from Celebrating You in white powder.

Inked the edges with some Aqua Mist ink, stamped my sentiment from Timeless Tags, cut it out and finished it with a sentiment and rhinestone.

Lastly, I added some butterflies from Fly Free and attached it to a white card base with foam adhesive.

I know I don't get very personal on here, I don't think you would want to hear all my blatherings, but I have been seriously challenged these last few weeks and feel the need to vent!  Challenged in parenting a three year old tornado, in my diet (gluten-free, sugar-free), and in turn, crafting!  I just stare at my papers and stamps and shrug my shoulders...I don't even seem to care or want to make anything and it makes me sad.  If I do make something I hate what I make and want to pitch it.  I have even become envious when I go blog surfing.  I love blog surfing and seeing the success of others!  I hate this feeling and I want my mojo back.  Now, I know it will come back eventually, but I don't have time to wait for it, ya know?  It has literally been three and a half weeks of feeling this way and I just want to scream!!!!!!  Well, that felt a little better.  LOL!  I think I am looney.  Thanks so much for listening!

I hope you have an AWESOME, crafty weekend my friend!

  3. Lindsay, I have been through everything you're going through right now and I've been through it more than once (it cycles! LOL). I have one child with a mood disorder and tourette's and the other one is ADHD so I know all about parenting issues. I also personally struggle with depression and that's something I've dealt with most of my life and continue to deal with daily, even on meds. I have stabs of envy at times and it's not always about crafting--I wonder what it would be like to have "normal" kids but I wouldn't trade them :)-- but I am also happy for the success of others. What you are feeling is perfectly normal even if it does supremely suck at the moment. You are so talented and have many times been the object of my envy. Hang in there and you'll be back to your old self before you know it.

  6. Hi Miss Lindsay! I totally know what you mean about the mojo thing. I think if you never told us, we would not have known cause I love your cards! Also, camping is my favorite thing to do. Whenever I come back from a camping trip, I feel crafty and energized to create something. I hope you feel the same when you return. Enjoy your trip!

  8. Aw, Linds, I'm sorry you;'re feeling this way. I agree with other sin saying it's normal to feel like that sometimes. I totally get the blog envy. I sometimes see cards that I love and I feel like "why can't I be that good" or "why can't I come up with something like that?", but I think it challenges us to dig deeper. And the mojo..well it ebbs and flows. Sometimes you can't be stopped and other times you cannot even get started. Believe me, I have not noticed anything "wrong" with your Mojo so rest assured that you are astill rocking them. :)

This card, also, is lovely. Great colors and I really like that flower image.

I hope you guys have a great relaxing weekend and that the little "tornado" calms down a bit. :) Hugs!!

  9. First, your card is a knock-out! I knew immediately it was for CASE Study and it is just fabulous. Love the soft aqua.

Second, I am right there with you when it comes to the challenges of parenting, making healthy choices, and finding the energy and inspiration to craft. I've had a lack of motivation lately that I know comes and goes, but it is so hard waiting for it to improve. If you ever need to chat about any of it, feel free to drop me a line! Sometimes we just need to get it out there, so hopefully it helped a bit for you to vent! Hang in there, girl! ((hugs))

  10. I'm so sad you feel that way! You always having wonderful things you have made!
But I do know what you mean. I really haven't had the time nor the energy to make anything lately! I see cards like yours and it makes me want to make a card, but then I think about taking all my things out and I change my mind!
Hopefully this will go by quick b/c my mojo has been gone for a couple of months now :(

  14. Love all the embossing and that flower set is just gorgeous. Beautiful aqua color. Love your take on case study! For a mojo less creation, this card is fantastic. I can't imagine how stunning your card will be when your mojo is high :)Great work as always, Lindsay!

  15. There seems to be a mojo deficit going around lately. So many people have been saying the same thing. And I'm feeling it, too. I cannot tell you how many cards I've made lately that I've thrown away. I was thinking of doing a post of all my personal rejects just so people can see the behind-the-scenes of my creative chaos! Ha. I hope the time off will be good for you. And if it makes you feel any better, I'm often envious of YOU and your work. You rock, lady!

  16. Oh Lindsay! I totally understand what you are going through! My son has ADHD and we've been struggling with him and his medication. Lots of med and dose changes lately. He is certainly a challenge but I gosh I love that little guy and I wouldn't trade him in for nothing! I would NEVER guess that you were having mojo issues! Your work is always flawless. I seem to have had mojo problems now for a couple of weeks. I may have a good 'creative' day in there but I sometimes wonder if I should give it a long rest. Go have fun this weekend....you
deserve a break! Hugs coming your way!

  18. I'm sorry to hear of your struggles, but I've recently come to realize that all of us struggle alot in life, and NONE of us gets off scott free of troubles. I envy people (same as you, I think, "I wish I had normal brothers and sisters who could be my friends, or who could support me sometimes in my hardships), but then I realize that the people I envy have other hard trials to bear. So I'm glad you let us know the struggles that you've been going through, because without letting us know, we wouldn't realize that you needed a few encouraging words. You do a beautiful job on your cards, (my mojo is almost always gone:-) I do way better copying that creating originals!!) And without you and your creation yesterday, I wouldn't have won the stamp set from Lisa!! (Thank you!!!) It's too bad that all of us crafters can't live close and get together and stamp and chat: I've come to realize that chatting with a friend is very cheap therapy, and is funner too:-D Have a beautiful weekend: we're all praying for you!

  19. You could have fooled me with all the beautiful creations you have been posting for this latest TCM hop! I love the CAS look you have been showing. That is something I find hard to do. I think you need a little break and should get out for the weekend away from your craft table. Your 3 yo tornado will settle down. Mojo will return. It's summer! Time for fresh air. And vent anytime you want. WE all can relate! Stamping Hugs!

  22. You certainly can't see any loss of love for crafting in this stunner, I love all aspects especially the embossing!!
    I too have felt just as you are, it does get better but the only way forward is baby steps, and try not to be too hard on yourself {{big hugs}}
Thanks for playing along with us at CASE study this week, hope your week ahead is filled with baby steps! :)

  24. Lindsay (hugs)! I'm sorry you've been struggling lately, sweetie. It sounds like 1) you're normal; 2) you need a little break (maybe this weekend camping trip will help!); and 3) since you're a bit stressed and overloaded right now, it's easy to forget that you are, without a doubt, one of the most talented card crafters out there! I know I'm biased, being your biggest fan :-D, but rest assured that you have a special gift, one in a million, and that gift isn't going anywhere. Period.

As far as reviving your mojo: It might take a little work to arrange, but maybe set up some posts (design team obligations) ahead of time, and take a week off from papercrafting and blogging. Even a staycation, where you do something completely different than the norm: local sights, bake, organize, nap, play games, watch movies, go for a walk--whatever, can refresh you. Maybe a girls' day out with family/friends? 24 hours with the little "tornado" staying at grandma's? This is all easy for me to say, but you know what would work best for you. Now that I've given you more unsolicited advice than you could ever want, I hope you have a wonderful week, mojo present or not!

  25. Hey Lindsay! I know what you mean. It's frustrating sometimes when you don't have your mojo. But this card is wonderful!!! So your mojo is BACK! You were probably just very tired from everything. Get some much needed R&R! Feel better dear! :)

  26. I'm sorry about your frustrations, Lindsay! I hear ya'... I've got a 20 month kid to take care of, heaps of deadlines to meet every week, huge financial problems, and I'm constantly jealous of all those supplies that I can't have!
It's just something that we all have to deal with at some stage... it will get better!
Your card is stunning! (and no sign of lost mojo, I assure you :))
